” We are just back to where we should be. We are not necessarily playing a lot better than we were at the start of the season but we are just being more clinical. We were in a lot of close games earlier in the season but just lacked the clinical edge to see them through. We were lucky though, the team stuck together and didn’t get demoralised – we knew and showed we could compete with some good teams and just had to just be that bit more focussed to make the move up the table. The Blackburn game showed that.

How did he feel about putting in such a strong personal performance between the pipes against Blackburn ?

” About time ! I always feel though that it is all tied into the defence. Going back to earlier in the season we were a bit more relaxed in the D and perhaps allowed too many shots from dangerous areas but being a bit tighter has helped cut down those shots and made things easier.

And what about the Whitley game, any thoughts ?

” We just want to keep the momentum going forward. There is a good atmosphere, we are lucky to have lots of options, no injuries and all the guys want to be on the ice. There is a really good spirit and they players will do what is needed for the team.

” We tend to play our own game. We might make a few tweaks to how we start out playing or preparing for a game for things like Blackburns big ice last weekend but we have got a lot of guys who have played at a higher level and if we need to make changes in a game they are quick to implement and they are well drilled.

To see how Dangie and the Barons get on this weekend make sure you get down to the rink for the much anticipated first meeting of the season with the Whitley Warriors. Face-off : 6:00pm.
