“It is with great regret that coach Dan MacKriel (Budz) has announced tonight at training that he is standing down from his role as coach of the TC Cars Solihull Barons. Dan is the father to a young family and has decided that he wants to focus on being with them as much as possible. Dan is not someone that does things by half, and therefore cannot dedicate the time that he would want to with the team”.

As Dan says “ I have been made to feel very welcome at Solihull and been able to run the team as I have wanted. They are a great bunch of lads and I will miss them all. However, I have decided over the last few weeks that my family is my priority and it is with great regret that I have decided to step down”

Andy Gordon, Chair of TC Cars Solihull Barons said “ Dan has brought a level of discipline and coaching to the team that we have been missing in recent seasons. I could not have asked for a better person and a better coach for the team. However, I agree with Dan that family is more important than anything – including hockey – and Dan has made the right decision for himself. He – and his family – will get a warm welcome if they want to come and visit someday soon”

For the game this weekend, the TC Cars will be managed by the existing bench staff, looking for our second win of the season against Hull. A new coach will be announced in due course.”
