Blackburn Hawks – Solihull Barons

The EDG Property Solihull Barons had a disappointing weekend following a trip to Lancashire to see the Blackburn Hawks for a game which resulted in a comfortable win for the home side.

Following a quick exchange of goals early in the first courtesy of the Hawks Devids Jurinenoks and Baron Niklas Ottosson, Blackburn would quickly wind up the heat on the visitors. After 11 minutes Adam Barnes and James Riddoch of Blackburn would each fire the puck home to set the Hawks on their way. By period end Jurinenoks would get his second to give Blackburn their fourth goal of the evening, while the Barons forwards were left struggling to exert any counter pressure.

The second period would see the Hawks take the game beyond any realistic hope of a Barons comeback as both Sam Warnock and Charles Phillips netted, unanswered, for Blackburn.

By the third period the Barons travelling support got a little compensation for their trip north with a pair of goals from Niklas Ottosson while goalie Ben Lee picked up some game time from Graham Laverick. Hawks captain Aaron Davies rounded of the scoring for Blackburn to complete a good night’s work for the home team.

The Barons head to Widnes this weekend in the hopes of getting back to winning ways. With six sides spanned by a mere three points after 11 league games no match in the Moralee is easy this year and the points, as ever,  will go to the best team on the night. The Barons are back at Hobs Moat on the 19th November, marking a return to our more regular Sunday fixtures. Face-off 5:30pm
