The U20 Barons squad has released the first names on their roster for the 2016/17 season. Having spent 2015/16 establishing the feeder team and getting to understand this new EIHA league, the U20s management are keen to set out their stall for the new season by building up a competitive and professional outfit on and off the ice in good time for September’s opening games.
James Moeller was among the first names to be pencilled in. Last year the U20s captain combined his duties in the Barons feeder team with stints at both the senior Barons and the NIHL2 Coventry Blaze. A fast and mobile defence man his speed, maturity and commitment on the ice have marked him out as a highly exciting prospect.
Joining James is forward Brandon Anderton. Like Moeller he played a mixed team season icing for the Barons in U18, U20 and senior guises, finding the net at each level and being the top points scorer for the U20s.
Completing the first tranche of names to be released is Jacob Smith. Smith spent last season with the U18 & NIHL Blaze while also taking to the ice for the senior Barons on a regular basis. A tall D-man his range and pace was used to good effect by all three sides to contain opposition attacks.
Stay tuned for more exciting news from the U20s soon !
