The TC Cars put on a very strong display away at league leaders the Solway Sharks on Saturday evening but could not quite do enough to bring some points away.
The Barons were the first to score on the Dumfries ice as Tom Soar finished an assist from Andy Whitehouse just after the mid-period mark. By the end of the first period however the Sharks Iain Bowie had brought the home side level with a shot to defeat Sam Hewitt.
The middle period would be goalless as, despite both sides having their chances, neither could quite find the finishing touch to edge ahead.
With all to play for in the final period both sides pushed for the line and the Sharks would stun with a trio of goals in little over a minute mid-period – Stuan Tonnor, Peter Gapa and Iain Bowie all getting the puck past the Barons D. The Barons pushed hard however and late goals by Rich Slater and Niklas Ottosson brought the Barons back within touching distance of the Sharks. While Sam Hewitt was pulled for the extra forward in the final two minutes, the Barons just could not find a way to force overtime.
The Barons now head South for a tie against the Blackburn Hawks before heading home.
