Tigers come a prowling in preseason finale…

The Airport Placements Limited Solihull Barons today announced their final preseason tie with the visit of local rivals, the NIHL Telford Tigers to Hobs Moat on the evening of 28th August.

Josh Bruce nets against the Tigers last season.

This final home tie will add to the previously announced away and home ties against the Widnes Wild as Barons head coach Perry Doyle fettles his side for the upcoming Moralee campaign.

Speaking earlier today Perry outlined his hopes for the preseason.

“We’ve got a good preseason coming up, the two Widnes games will allow me to look at options and see how well the lines and plays we’ll be working on over the next month are doing. “

“We’ve brought in some new players and I want to see what options there are on the lines, to make sure we can bring the pace to our game which I am very keen to develop this season.”

“I will be on the ice this season but for these games I am wanting to see the play from behind the bench, so I can really focus on getting our fitness, lines, tactics and strategies all in place for the start of the season.”

“The Telford game will be a big challenge for us. Last season the Tigers were solid but they’ve been bringing back some high quality players, the Brittle brothers in particular, and are still adding to their line up. They’ll be much stronger this season”.

“We know it is going to be a great season, with no weak sides in the league at all. Any side will be able to beat any other so preparation beforehand and the effort on the ice on the night are going to be so very important.

Having a good pre-season is going to be a big part of that and the boys all know what I expect of them, against Widnes, against Telford and against every team and on every night we are hit the ice this season. If we do that we will be where we need to be come the end of the season.”
