Barons host Huskies in preseason tie

The Direct Taxis Solihull Barons will play their first games in nearly eighteen months when they take on the Haringey Huskies in a pair of preseason challenge ties over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of September.

On the Saturday, the Barons make the trip to North London and the Huskies iconic Alexandra Palace rink, with Haringey then making the trip up to Solihull on the Sunday. This will be the first chance for the Hobs Moat faithful to see the 2021-22 Barons – old favourites and new signings alike – and a good crowd is hoped for.

While the Barons won comfortably the last time the two sides met at the start of the 19-20 season, the Huskies were still able to pose challenges in the Solihull end (S Crampton)

An entertaining tie should be on offer, with the Huskies coming into the games relatively match ready having participated in trial tournaments over the Spring, while the Barons, while arguably the stronger side on paper, were last in a game back in March of 2020.

It’s been a long haul, with far too many Sunday evenings sat in front of the TV rather than cheering on the Barons but we are nearly there. We hope you are all looking forward to getting back to the hockey and we very much look forward to seeing you all back down the rink on the 5th !!!
