So with the roster for the Direct Taxis Solihull Barons now announced, one long standing name was missing. D-man Dave Rogers has announced that he will be taking a step back from the Barons for the 2021-22 season to enable him to concentrate on a change in career direction.
Rogers has been a regular in the Solihull line-up since joining the senior roster in 2012-13 and has since notched up over 200 games for the Barons. Playing a gritty defensive style with an eye for the breakout, Rogers has been a popular figure among the home support for a number of years and will be missed on Sunday nights at Hobs Moat by very many.

Dave spoke about his decision :
“As the Barons are announcing signings for this season I’ve had to make a very difficult decision and hang up my skates for a little while, at least for this season, due to a change in career path. Whilst currently working and going back to college to study, I just wouldn’t be able to find the time to fully commit and give the team and all you lovely fans the best of me, which I am extremely gutted about.
After all this time off I was really looking forward to blowing the cobwebs off and getting back on the ice with all the lads.
I wish the team all the best this season with their goals and I have no doubt in them achieving everything they aim for!
Hopefully your favourite number 4 will be back for the 2022-23 season!❤️ “

We are sure our supporters will wish Dave all the best in his future career and look forward to seeing him around Hobs Moat in the future whether on the ice or in the stands.
Stay tuned for lots more news over the weekend when we hope to reveal details of our pre-season games, our new shirt designs (and how to get one) and of course our season ticket details !!!
