The TC Cars Solihull Barons could not hold their form the previous evening falling to a heavy defeat against the strong Whitely Warriors on Sunday evening.
The Barons made the trip up to Whitley with a heavily depleted squad missing four players the previous evening key offensive pairing Tom Soar and Niklas Ottosson and d-men Dave Rogers and Dan Harrison – the latter having picked up an arm injury in the Solway game. Combined with a suspension and general unavailability it was a rather thread-bare Barons side which pitched up at the Hillheads rink for the second v third tie.
By two thirds the way through the first Callum Queenan gave the Warriors the opener and the 1-0 scoreline would remain for the rest of the period. The second period saw the Warriors ease out the lead against a continually pressured Barons defence – Philip Edgar and Adam Finlinson finding the net.
While the Barons and Sam Hewitt in particular in the Solihull goal had worked hard, the short bench, the hard game the night before and the quality of the Warriors side ultimately told with four more goals going in without answer for a difficult night for Solihull in an otherwise excellent season so far.
