The TC Cars Solihull Barons had a difficult start to their end of Spetember away double header with a disappointing performance which saw them bitten badly by a well organised and committed Solway Sharks.
The Sharks were first on the scoreboard with a goal by Slovak winger Peter Gapa after seven minutes and the game would then go very much with the home side who by the game midpoint were four goals to the good without conceding. The Barons pulled back a single goal shortly after as Elliot Farrell’s speed up the ice was rewarded with the Barons opener but sadly this would not mark a turning point with the sides heading to the dressing rooms 5-1 in favour of the Sharks.
The final period had the Sharks on cruise control putting the puck beyond Daniel Brittle three more times, the Barons player coach having taken over net minding duties from Sam Hewitt for the final twenty minutes. While the ever dependable Luke Brittle would find the net for Solihull it was little more than a consolation and the side headed down the M6 to Sunday’s tie against Blackburn with plenty to consider.
