I am delighted that Nik is returning for his tenth season at Solihull as Captain, and as recognition for the outstanding contribution to the Solihull Barons that Nik has made, we look forward to awarding him with and sharing his testimonial year for the forthcoming season. The leadership that Nik brings to the team, is second to none, he is not only an extremely talented player, but well respected amongst everyone here at the club. Last season saw him take the Top Points scorer award and Supporters player award. Welcome back Nik.
A note from Dave Haywards:
It’s such great news to welcome Nik back for his 10th season for the Barons, where have the years gone. Nik joined the club the year after I became fully fledged Barons fan and remember the buzz around the rink when it was announced we had a Swede joining the club. He made an immediate impact bringing a huge game with him with spectacular speed and skill, scoring some outrageous goals and quickly becoming a fans favourite. Over the next 9 seasons he has continued in the same vein and has been at the heart of the team’s successes. Season on season he has tormented defences in the NIHL North league racking up huge points totals culminating in him proving himself as the top forward in all the major stats last season. But it’s not just his hockey skills that he has brought to the club, he is a leader both on and off the ice. He is a massive presence in the changing room and has full respect of all the players and coaching staff. As recognition of his 10 years with the club I am absolutely delighted to announce that the 2024-2025 season will be Nik’s benefit season and the club will be organising a number of exciting events and promotions to support him throughout the season. More details will be announced in the run up to the start of the season but in the meantime please join me in congratulating Nik on his benefit year and look forward to you supporting him during this time. Well done Nik, you thoroughly deserve it.
