New to the Barons this season is Kain Mitchell, who will be training with the team for the 23/24 season. He will be the third back-up netminder which is a tough but valuable position on the team and often means you are called on in the event of an injury, or at very short notice, or sometimes not at all.
Phil Lee recognises the difficult role of the third netminder in a squad:
“Kain is still very much in the development phase of his hockey journey, and I am pleased that we have come to an arrangement that will enable Kain to train with the team and help further his development as a netminder, something that I know Kain is passionate about. Kain will still have the opportunity of playing for his current teams, whilst gaining valuable ice time and experience training with the Barons which is key to his development as a netminder.
