The Solihull Barons had a very strong weekend with two wins from two beginning with a dominant pre-season display against the Telford Tigers on Saturday as Matt Maurice turned goal machine finding the net no fewer than nine times in a 12-6 victory. Sunday at Blackburn Hawks, the league opener for both sides, was however a much more closely fought affair which could easily have gone either way right up to the buzzer. A brace of goals by Richard Slater and a man of the match performance by James Moeller helped ensure the points went to the Midlands and the Barons 22-23 Moralee campaign got off to a winning start.
