Crowe returns for 2021/22

With Callum Bowley confirming his choice for goalie pairing over the last week, there are now only one or two elements of the 2021-22 Direct Taxis Solihull Barons roster still to report. It will therefore be of no surprise to see Solihull stalwart Richard Crowe being one of those names returning to the line-up.

Crowey is very much a product of the Solihull rink having played through the juniors and into the Barons, with a senior career now spanning just over a decade. His solid defensive play and booming shot from the point have seen him become a staple on the Barons d-lines, so his re-signing was a simple decision for Bowley.

Ricard Crowe (S Crampton)

“I am really pleased to see Crowey return for next season as he is a great character to have around the team, he’s a solid, hard hitting defenceman and knows the club inside and out. He adds a lot of quality to our d-core, sees the ice well and plays a simple but highly effective role on the team. He is more than capable of playing on our top lines, so I’ll be leaning on him to take on more responsibility. I’m sure everyone will be delighted to see him hit the ice again in September.”

A spectacular check on Adrian Palak by Rich Crowe (Steve Crampton)

For Crowe, Hobs Moat has been a second home since first strapping on skates, therefore the return to the Barons was always on the cards :

“When Callum asked me to re-sign with the Barons it was a no brainer, the players and fans down at Hobs Moat Road have a special place in my heart as I’ve only ever known Solihull and it’s incredible following. From myself and the rest of the Barons, we can’t wait to get back on the ice and play some good hockey for our loyal fans, as always we are forever thankful of your continued support and we wish you all the best and hope you are remaining safe and taking good care of yourself.

So only a couple more player announcements but after a very long closed season, the first games face-off in only around a month so keep following as the announcements and news will be coming thick and fast !
