The Solihull Barons continue to build their 2021-22 roster with the signing of two fan-favourites. Sentiment however does not win games but with goalie Sam Hewitt and defenceman Dan ‘Nugget’ Harrison also being two of the most consistent and dependable players to ice at Hobs Moat in recent years, coach Callum Bowley felt very confident in re-signing the pair :
“I am delighted to see both Nugget and Hewitt return for next season as they both have big roles to play.
‘Nugget is a reliable defenceman who reads the game well and is willing to put his body on the line for the team. He plays a physical game, battles hard and competes every night which is what we need from all the guys if we are to compete at the top of the table, so all in all, I am really pleased he’s back on board.
‘Also, I had no hesitation in bringing Hewitt back as he’s a great goalie with good work ethic and a fan favourite at Hobs Moat Road. With Sam, you know what you get, he takes great pride in his performances and will provide us with the opportunity to win every game. He will play a huge role for us next season and I am delighted he’ll be in a Barons shirt next season.”

For the calm and consistent Hewitt, getting back between the pipes for the Barons was always on the cards:
“I can’t wait to hit the ice again with the Barons after what feels like a very long time. It is always a great feeling knowing you are joining a professional set up and the squad Callum has put together is one that will be able to compete for silverware, just like we did before the pandemic.
“Like many of the players and staff, I can’t wait to get back on the ice and prepare for the upcoming season. It will be great to see all the fans back down at the rink supporting us once again.
“For now, stay safe and I hope to see everyone very soon!”

Harrison is also keen to get back on the ice and play his part as part of a title challenging squad
“It’s always nice to get asked to return to the Barons. Hopefully we can get going in September. I feel we have a strong team that is capable of challenging for silverware.
“For the time being stay safe and enjoy the summer. See you in September!
