Comings and Goings ahead of Sheffield visit

Recent disappointing performances have this week seen Coach Darren Bellerby make changes within the Sheldon Jewellery Centre Solihull Barons roster.

Forward Joe Henry has been signed from Telford Tigers, while former Baron defenceman Lee Winwood has resumed training and re-registered with the club. Leaving the Barons are forwards Dale Buckland and Ryan James who were released by the club earlier in the week.

Joe Henry, while only 23, is a highly experienced left wing forward and has been brought in to bolster the Barons goal scoring opportunities. Hailing from Solihull, Henry has played around 300 games at Elite and Premier league level with both the Coventry Blaze and most recently the Telford Tigers where he placed the puck between the pipes 20 times last season.

Lee Winwwod is back in training

Returning to training with the Barons is popular defenceman Lee Winwood. Familiar to many of the Hobs Moat faithful having played for the Barons over the last five years, the return of Winwood to the Barons blue line will help to ensure a healthy roster of strong defencemen from whom Bellerby can pick his lines.

Sadly leaving the Barons are both Dale Buckland and Ryan James. "The Sherriff" and "Snowy" have both been regular fixtures on the Solihull roster for a number of years and the Barons management thank for them for their time with the team and wish them both the very best for the future.

Bellerby is keen to continue to develop the Barons and will be continuing to look for players to enhance the squad as the season continues.

Sheffield Visit

This Sunday evening sees the Sheffield Senators visit Hobs Moat in the second meeting of the season for the two sides. The Barons travelled to Ice Sheffield a fortnight ago but an inability to make the most of their opportunities coupled to strong Sheffield net minding saw Solihull come out on the wrong end of a 4-1 loss.

The Sheffield side have shown themselves to be the surprise of the season with a number of good results, most notably against the Barons when their top line of Andrew Chapman, Thomas Humphries and Nathan Britton were surgical in their ability to exploit every opportunity presented.

More recently however Sheffield have gone down to two defeats against league leaders Nottingham Lions but they can expect little sympathy from the Solihull crowd keen to gain revenge for October's defeat.

The game faces off at 6pm. Make sure you get down to the Hobs Moat barn to cheer on the boys !

The best Sunday night out in town is only £6 adults, £3 concessions £16 Family (2 Ad & up to 3 Ch)
