Having closed out the league title last weekend, the Motor Nation Solihull Barons made their final road trips of the Laidler Conference campaign at the weekend and in doing so extended their unbeaten run to 21 games.
The weekend had the potential for upset with Hull having gained a reputation for unpredictability, while Widnes, fresh to the league this season, had showed their metal, defeating second place Deeside Dragons in recent weeks.
The Barons have however stuck to their task and put on a pair of convincing displays justifying the champion status, Andrew Whitehouse earning man of match for four goals at Hull, while Erik Bakalar took the honours for a hard working display in Widnes.
This Sunday evening sees the Barons welcome the Deeside Dragons to the Solihull rink for the final league game of the season in what promises to be an exciting champions versus runner-up tie. The game will also give the loyal Barons support a chance to see their team lift the inaugural Laidler Cup. Face-off 6pm. |
