Lookers of Yardley Solihull Barons : 1
Whitley Warriors : 2

The Lookers  of Yardley Solihull Barons made the long trip up to Whitley Bay on Saturday to renew acquaintance with the North East town’s Warriors. While there were a number of positives to take from the tie the Barons would board the bus home still waiting their first points of the season.

Within four minutes of the puck drop the home side had opened the scoring, a long range effort by Josh Maddock defeating Sam Hewitt in the Barons net. With the Barons first line adjusting to the loss of injury listed Joe Henry it fell to the Ottosson, Eaton and Soar line to bring the Barons level by the period end, Thomas Soar getting the final touch.

The Warriors would however get the only other goal of the game on the half hour mark, Callum Watson with the winner. While the Barons would continue to battle to the end and Sam Hewitt ensured the Warriors were kept to their two goals, rather limited luck and a strong performance by Richard Lawson in the Whitley net ensured the home side scooped all two points.

The Barons must now regroup ahead of the visit by the highly experienced Solway Sharks who will travel down from Scotland to visit the Barons this Sunday, Face-off : 6:00pm.

NEXT HOME GAME
SUNDAY 27th SEPTEMBER !!!

The Barons will welcome Scottish side the Solway Sharks to Hobs Moat for the first time on the 27th September.

The Sharks have had an uncharacteristically poor start to the season losing both their opening two games.

The squad however is strong, with the management making a statement of intent with the signing of long time Elite league veteran Martin Cingel. The rest of the roster is awash with former EIHL players, including Mark Fowley and Iain Bowie while a number of other players are currently signed on two-ways with the Braehead Clan.

A strong tie is expected and we hope to see as many as possible of you make it down to Hobs Moat for another frantic evening of Moralee hockey.

Make it loud and ensure the Barons have that extra man on the ice !

Sunday 27th September
