A recovery from a three goal deficit rescued a second away point of the season for the Barons in an intriguing 3-3 draw with Trafford Metros.

Andy Ayres and Richard Slater struck midway through the first period and Dale White hit the equalizer in the second after the Metros had gone 3-0 up inside the first ten minutes.

The result came as a welcome relief to the management team after the crushing defeat at the hands of Telford Titans the week previous, but it looked as if the poor start to 2012 would continue when Trafford goals on two, three and ten minutes left Solihull starring down the barrel of another defeat.

But a minute later, almost from nowhere, Ayres grabbed a lifeline to make it 3-1 and when Slater hit home from White’s assist on 16 minutes, they had the bit between their teeth in search of a leveller.

And it came after 35 minutes when a neat interchange with Lui Brindle ended in White squeezing home to complete the turnaround.

Trafford had the better of a scoreless final period as both teams searched desperately for a winner, but Solihull hung on well to claim a valuable point on the road.

The Barons had little time to rest after their exploits – an early departure for a gruelling trip to Whitley Bay lay ahead the next morning.

That trip proved far less fruitful for Darren as his understandably fatigued side succumbed to a valiant 7-3 defeat against the reigning league champions.

The Barons return to Hobs Moat this weekend hoping that with home ice and home support they can convert last weekend's draw against the Metros into a win.
