The Lookers of Yardley Solihull Barons recent good form took a bit of a hit over the weekend with a pair of disappointing losses on the road.

On Saturday the Barons made the long trip up to Dumfries to take on the Solway Sharks in a game which would get off to a ferocious start with no less than seven goals in the first twelve minutes; Josh Bruce, Tom Soar and Ed Eaton scoring for Solihull. It would however be the Scottish side who would have a single goal advantage by period end. The remainder of the game would be much more measured, Tomas Janak getting a further goal for the Barons. An injury to top Barons forward Niklas Ottosson disturbed the Solihull forward lines however and it would be the Solway side who would close down the game with a further two goals to secure both points as the buzzer sounded for the end of the game.

On Sunday a relatively short benched Barons made the hour long trip to the Telford Tigers in the hope of building on some strong performances against the Shropshire side. The first period had the Barons showing good form, Tom Soar cancelling out an early Tigers goal and the Barons holding the balance of play for much of the first twenty.

By the second period things were still closely matched, Josh Bruce bringing the Barons back level after an early period strike by the Tigers Macaulay Heywood. The dismissal of Baron Tomas Janak mid-period would however be a sign of things to come. By period end the sides were level on three all, Soar picking up a further goal for the Barons. The period buzzer would however see Barons frustrations boil over and the final period would see Solihull have both Ryan Selwood and Rob Eley sent to the dressing room. While Soar would complete his hat-trick, the heads of the depleted Barons squad were no longer in the game and Telford capitalized, netting a further five times.

After a grueling weekend on the road, the Barons will ditch the team bus this Sunday as they welcome the Billingham Stars to Solihull. The Barons met the Stars up at Billingham earlier in the season with the Solihull team coming out on the positive side of a 5:3 scoreline. Face-off 6:00pm.

NEXT HOME GAME
SUNDAY 15th NOVEMBER

The Barons next home game is against the North East's Billingham Stars.

The Stars have traditionally been one of the Moralee's strongest sides but have been struggling a little this season.

The Barons and Stars clashed earlier this season at Billingham with the Barons emerging on the positive side of a 5-3 scoreline.

Billingham will not be wanting to make the long trip South without the prospect of picking up points so the Barons will need to be on top form to get the win.

Make it loud and ensure the Barons have that extra man on the ice !

Sunday 15th November
