Barons hit historic half century !

Bristol Street Motors Solihull Barons : 12
Bradford Bulldogs : 2

The Bristol Street Motors Solihull Barons had a convincing win over league basement side the Bradford Bulldogs on Sunday evening and in doing so took their winning streak to 50 games in all competitions.

The first period was however relatively evenly matched with the Bulldogs living up to their name with a tenacious defensive display which made the most of any weakness in the Barons offensive threat. The opening goal came courtesy of the Barons, a Jake Larkin shot was parried to square in front of goal where a grateful Tom Soar was ready to place the puck in the net. The Barons would find the net for a second time just shy of 12 minutes with Jake Larkin taking a chance in the dirty area around the Bradford goal crease. While the period was largely being played in the Bulldogs end, the Yorkshire side were not afraid to take their opportunities when they arose, Joshua Richardson pulling one back in a move which saw the Bulldogs run a surprise play straight up the middle and into the Barons net.

The second period however was much more along the lines suggested by the two sides respective league positions. The period was played almost entirely in the Bradford end and the Barons quickly  converted the pressure into goals, Eddie Eaton scoring shortly after the puck drop and by the end of the second period the Barons had found the net a further seven times, Eric Bakalar rounding off the scoring with a top shelf effort in the final minute of the period.

The final period would see the Barons easing up while the Bulldogs regained some of their first period form. Goals by Josh Bruce and Rob Eley would see the Barons end the evening having slotted the puck into the Bradford net twelve times.

The Barons hit the road next Sunday when they travel to North Wales to take on the Deeside Dragons. The Dragons have traditionally been one of the stronger sides in the division and have long eyed promotion but have had a poor season by their standards but will be aiming for a strong run into the season end. The Dragons are down in Solihull on the 8th of March for the Barons next home game, face-off 6pm.
