Henry and Hubbuck return for another season with the Barons
Barons forwards back for another year at Hobs Moat.

The Barons No.7 is back for another year.

After an outstanding 2013-14 for the Solihull Barons, head coach Darren Bellerby, has been working to ensure the 2014-15 Barons will be just as formidable.

First to be announced as joining next seasons Barons are returning forwards Joe Henry and Connor Hubbuck.

For Henry this will be his second full season with the Barons having joined the Solihull side part way through 2012-13, having previously iced for the EPL's Telford Tigers and the Elite and National league Coventry Blaze.

Last season was arguably Henry's strongest to date. Centering the Barons top line, Henry racked up the points at an astonishing rate, scoring better than a goal a game while also providing opportunities for linemates. The Barons top points scorer, it was no surprise when Henry lifted the Player's Player award at the recent end of season awards' night.

Also pulling on a red and white shirt for 2014-15 will be Connor Hubbuck whose sharp eye for goal saw him find the net a career best 24 times last season. The 22 year old began his hockey career coming through the junior ranks at Solihull, followed by a few years with the National League Blaze before returning to the Barons at the start of last season.

Playing much of the season on the wing of the Barons second forward and powerplay lines, Hubbuck showed versatility mixing skillful forward passing play with an unerring knack of never missing an opportunity to make a shot on goal.

Connor Hubbuck doesn't need asking when a goal opportunity is there.

Elsewhere in the league it has also been announced that for 2014-15 promotion and relegation will return to the Northern section of the National Ice Hockey League.

For the 2014-15 season the Barons will play in the NIHL Laidler Division 2, while the Moralee Conference becomes NIHL Moralee Division 1. The winners of Division 2 will be promoted and the last placed team in Division 1 relegated. The second bottom side of D1 and runner-up in D2 will also play a two-legged promotion / relegation play-off.

The successful play-off weekend will return, though the venue for this has yet to be announced.

2014-15 promises to be another thriller !

Stay tuned over the next few weeks for further player announcements, news of pre-season games and all your other Barons news.
