A couple of more names have been added to the Legends roster for Rob Eley's 19 for 19 Testimonial game on Sunday 24th April in the form of UK based Canadians, Joel Poirier and Rick Strachan.
#28 : Joel Poirier
Joel Poirier is another player with a big reputation in British hockey. Having come through the ranks of the OHL and been drafted by the Washington Capitals, Joel spent a number of seasons in the ECHL and AHL, before making the move to the UK. Initially Joel played for Newcastle and Nottingham before spending four years with the Elite Coventry Blaze. Moving onto coaching Poirier has benen involved in the National League set-ups of both the Blaze and the Solihull Barons.
#4 : Rick Strachan
D-man Strachan is another veteran of the UK hockey scene. A Manitoba native, Strachan would play for province side the Winnipeg Warriors before making his entrance to the UK scene in 1990-91. Best known as a player for both Milton Keynes and Basingstoke and who graced the ice at the Hobs Moat while icing for the Solihull Kings. Now more commonly found behind the bench, Strachan has been a key member of the Nottingham Panthers coaching set up for the last few years.
