The 19 for 19 Legends take on the Barons
Chartrand and Ruggles back on Solihull Ice !!!

Rob Eley is delighted to announce that a select team of 19 for 19 Legends will take on the Solihull Barons on Sunday 24th April in support of his 19 for 19 campaign.

The game will face-off at 5:30pm and will consist of 2, 20 minute periods, either side of a skills competition with challenges to include hardest shot and fastest skater.

The first players to be announced for the Legends are two very well known ex-Barons from a few years ago.

#12 : Steve Chartrand

Steve Chartrand certainly needs no introduction to hockey fans in the West Midlands. With a career running to over 20 years, Chartrand played in his native Canada before making the long trip over the Atlantic to first hook up with the Whitley Warriors before beginning a long association with Solihull and Coventry. In hit time with Solihull, Chartrand would find the net more than 750 times to mark him down as a bona fide Barons legend.

#54 : Hilton Ruggles

A contemporary of Chartrand, Ruggles was a mainstay of British hockey in the 90s and through to 2005 playing for a range of sides including Whitley, Coventry, Cardiff, Manchester and of course an all too short spell at Solihull. In a mere 10 games with the Barons, Ruggles notched up no less than 17 goals before moving on and causing devastation to hockey defences up and down the country.

Speaking about the game Hilton was enthusiastic about lacing up the skates once more, "I played with Rob at Coventry. He was a great guy to line up with and I'm proud to be part of his testimonial, especially as it's for such a worthy cause. I only hope my legs don't betray me - its been a while since I've been on the ice!"

Stay tuned for more announcements soon !

Rob would like to thank both the Window Centre Solihull and Silver Blades Solihull Ice Rink for their support of this event.
