Nottingham Lions – Solihull Barons

-

Recap

The Direct Taxis Solihull Barons fell to a third consecutive league defeat away at eighth placed Nottingham Lions on Sunday.

The young Lions squad, missing a number of players through Covid protocols, put on an impressive team display with a standout performance by 20 year old Swiss import Zachary Yokohama. Meanwhile veteran captain and former Baron, Luke Thomas, had an impressive evening, not only guiding his youthful team – some of whom were having their senior debut – to the Lions first league win in three years but also bagging a goal and assist.

For the Barons, goals came from Niklas Ottosson, Dan Harrison and the returning d-man Kieran Papps.

The loss now puts the Barons firmly in amongst the mid-table melee with only three points separating third from seventh in the league and leaving some work to do over the Christmas break. The Barons next game is at home to the Widnes Wild on 2nd January, with The Cheshire side having overhauled the Barons and moved into third place.
