Andy Whitehouse back again for 12th season as a Baron

Phil Lee has inked the first Barons contract deal of the 2022-23 season and it should come as no surprise to the Barons faithful to know that the man with the name on the first set of papers is the ever dependable and phenomenally consistent Andy Whitehouse.

Andy is second only to Phil himself in terms of games played as a Baron and has been a core part of Solihull set-ups for over a decade with an industrious and disciplined approach to the game.  Primarily a centre with a strong face-off game, he showed flexability through 21-22 by covering defensive roster slots left vacant through player injury.

For Phil Lee the return of the versatile Whitehouse was an obvious first signing :

”I am pleased to have acquired the services of Andy for the next season. Andy is a centreman but can also play defence so is more of a utility player. He has a good game awareness for hockey situations. He does most of his hard work in the defensive zone, but can contribute in the offensive zone by adding goals – a very capable two way player. I would like to welcome Andy back to the team.

Meanwhile for Whitehouse a return to the Barons under Phil Lee was always going to be an easy decision :

“Hope you are all well and staying safe.

“When Leepy asked me to come back for another year it was a no brainier. It will be good to work with Leepy again, he has a lot of experience that will help us build a successful team.
Last year we struggled with a lot of injuries hopefully this year we will all stay fit and fight for some silverware.

“Stay safe and hopefully see you all soon !
