Graham Laverick back as backstop !

The Direct Taxis Solihull Barons have added to their final line of defence with the recruitment of goalie Graham Laverick. The 26 year old iced in the 2021 Spring mini series and through 2019-20 with the Milton Keynes Thunder having backstopped the Coventry Blaze NIHL squad for much of his senior career. The name Laverick is however well known to Barons supporters, with Graham himself icing for the Barons back in 2012-13, while older brother Hayden was a regular between the pipes at Hobs Moat from 2009 to 2013.

For Callum Bowley having a dependable goalie pairing is a core part of any title challenging team, and with Graham joining Sam Hewitt in the roster he believes he has secured such a set-up.

“I am really pleased to bring Lavs to Solihull as he has a lot to offer and is a solid goalie. He’s coming off the back of a successful spell with Milton Keynes Thunder in the mini series and he’s keen to come in and hit the ground running. I really like his attitude, his drive and believe him and Sam will form a strong goalie partnership over the course of the season and push each other week in week out. Having two reliable goalies is what we need if we are to compete every game. I look forward to working with him this season.

For Graham, the chance to return to Solihull – and play in front of the Barons home support – is one he is keenly awaiting :

“It’s a pleasure to be putting on a Baron’s shirt again after 8 years away from the team, Callum and Marcus have put together a very strong squad we should be bringing back some silverware to Hobs Moat road at the end of the season.

“I’ve been playing though COVID in the series it’s been very strange with empty areas so I’ll be glad to hear all you fans lifting the roof off Hobs Moat. I’m looking forward to this new opportunity and can’t wait to get this season started.
