Barons 2016-17 line-up confirmed – Janak, Bruce and Henry first names released !!!

Solihull Barons head coach Perry Doyle has confirmed who will be in the 2016-17 line-up as the team aims to be challenging for the Moralee division title when the season kicks off in September.

Names will be released over the next few weeks but first to have their registrations confirmed are the Barons normal first line of Josh Bruce, Tomas Janak and Joe Henry.

In Josh Bruce the Barons have a proven goal scorer who combines point building with a winning attitude and who is also not afraid to mix it up with gritty D-men. With a range of experience at all levels in UK hockey, Bruce has been a key figure in the resurgence of the Barons in the last few years.

Playing with an "A" on his chest last season he will aim to continue a leadership role both on and off the ice.

Good for 55 points last season the winger has been a key player on the Barons forward lines and power plays with the aim to continue this into the new season.

Tomas Janak is another main stay in the Barons line-up over the last few years. Having had a long association with Telford at EPL level, Janak joined the Barons for 2013-14 and has played a positive role through the dominance of the 2014-15 Laidler conference and the highly successful Barons first foray into the Moralee last year.

Traditionally playing on the right wing of the Barons top line the versatile Janak also stepped back and played D-man for a number of ties last season.

The Slovak native was good for better than a point a game and typified the hard working nature of Solihull's first line through 2015-16.

Joe Henry is another who will return for another season with Solihull. Generally centring the Barons top line flanked by Josh Bruce or Tomas Janak / Dave Rogers, Henry found the net 18 times last season and set-up a similar number of goals for his team mates.

Starting his senior career with the Coventry Blaze for whom he played at both Elite and National Level, Henry joined the Barons mid-way through 2012-13.

A gritty forward, his goals tend to come from close in on the crease, with a robust temperament marked by a willingness to work the dirty areas if that is what is needed to win.
