Adam Andrews has insisted that Barons victories are immanent despite losing 7-4 to Telford Tigers in a frenetic encounter on Sunday.
The skipper was quick to praise his team mates for their battling performances in the second and third periods, but admitted that they didn’t turn up for the first.
“We started really slowly again in the first period and found ourselves three down, so we need to look at that. I think we did better in the second and then we were even better in the third. But we can’t afford to only turn up for two periods, we need to play well the whole game.
“We really pushed hard and we were being rewarded. The lads’ confidence was sky high after we pulled a few goals back, so I think that’s why we played some of our really great hockey.

“We’re naturally disappointed that we didn’t get anything. We’re always aiming to win games to get points on the board, but this has been a really significant game for us and I think it’s given the guys the belief that’s going to kick start our season.
“I know it’s another loss, but the performances are getting better every week and we all think that our first win isn’t too far away and we are going to keep working hard at it.”

Andrews was also keen to praise the part that the crowd played in the comeback, and has reassured them that, with their help, more exciting hockey will follow.
“The crowd were great; they got right behind us which really helped us on the ice. They need to stick with us now and keep giving us their great support and I’m sure that they will see more exciting matches like this and hopefully we will start churning out wins as well.” |
