Get yourself back down to Hobs Moat - the A45 derby is back ! ...and it is for a good cause too !
The Barons season kicks off in style on the 18th of August with a challenge game against the Coventry NIHL Blaze in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.
With the two sides of the A45 derby now in different divisions of the National Ice Hockey League it looked as though the full-blooded battles between the two West Midlands sides would be on hold for at least one more season.
The opportunity to kick off their respective seasons for a worthwhile cause was enough to make sure, for one night only the Barons and Blaze will clash once again.

Barons v Blaze fixtures are always exciting battles and with the Help for Heroes honours at stake expect no quarters given.. |
For both sides this will be the opener to their 2012-13 campaigns and while a non league game, there should be little doubt of the importance of coming out top on this derby.
The Barons are still smarting from their relegation from the first division and will be keen to show the Coventry side that present form will be what will count.
The tough and exciting battles between these sides brought bumper crowds to the Solihull rink last season and it will be hoped this can be repeated in support of the Help for Heroes charity.
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. |
The most notable initiative of Help for Heroes was the setting up of the Headley Court Rehabilitation centre for injured servicemen.
Less high profile but just as important is the charities support of Battle Back, enabling injured servicemen and women to use sport and adventure to help regain confidence and direction following serious injury.
With such a worthwhile cause we hope to see a large crowd of supporters from both Solihull and Coventry come down to cheer on their team and raise funds for the cause.
Make sure you are one of them !!!
