Nottingham Lions : 1
Bristol Street Motors Solihull Barons : 4
A week after a convincing, but hard won 7-2 home victory over the Nottingham Lions, the Bristol Street Motors Solihull Barons hit the road and brought home another two points courtesy of a 4-1 win over the Lions in Nottingham.
The Barons game plan did not get off to the best of starts as Nottingham junior Hamish Hall put the puck into the Barons net within a minute of the puck drop. It would take until the ninth minute before the Barons drew level, Tomas Janak and Josh Bruce combining for Solihull's opener. The remainder of the period was finely balanced with neither side being able to convert against solid net minding at both ends.
The second period would see the Barons hit their stride with goals either side of the half hour mark by Joe Henry and Tom Soar. The period would end early following a clash between Barons captain Rob Eley and the Lions Ivo Dimitrijevs.
The teams returned to the ice to play out the final two minutes of period 2 before rolling into period three. This would again see the sides evenly matched with the Lions frantically chasing the two goal deficit, however a late goal by the Barons Niklas Ottosson put the game beyond their reach and clinched the two points for Solihull.
The Barons are back on home ice this Sunday evening when they welcome the Bradford Bulldogs to the Solihull rink. The Bulldogs have had a difficult return to senior hockey following their re-entry at the start of next year, but their combative approach and solid netminding has seen them pick up points from the unwary. Face-off : 6pm.
Barons Goals : Janak, Henry, Soar, Ottosson
Barons Assists : Selwood (2), Bruce (2), S Harrison, Eaton
Barons MoM : Ryan Selwood
