Barons confirm the return of their Masked Men
..and a big welcome to Rileys Sports Bar and 107.5 Switch Radio
Solihull welcome back goalies for another season between the red pipes.

Nicholls had a successful first season for the Barons.

The Motor Nation Solihull Barons are pleased to welcome back their netmnding line-up from the 2013-14 season as Josh Nicholls and Sam Hewitt return, while enthusiastic youngster Calem Harper will act as back-up through the season.

For Nicholls, 13-14 was his first year in a Barons shirt having previously played for a variety of squads out of the Telford and Coventry rinks. The 23 year old split net minding duties with Hewitt throughout the double winning season, averaging a league leading save percentage of 93.36%, for 1.86 goals against average and three shut outs.

As impressive as these stats are, for many, the defining moment of Nicholls season was blanking the Nottingham Lions in the Laidler Play-off final shoot out victory.

For Sam Hewitt, this will be his seventh consecutive season with the Barons. He too enjoyed a strong 2013-14 with a 92.42% save record and a pair of shut outs. Like Nicholls Hewitt plaid a key role in the play-off weekend, anchoring the Barons in the semi-final against relentless efforts by the Widnes Wild forwards, to ensure the Barons held on for the victory.

The laid back Hewitt will be a Barons goalie for a seventh consecutive season.

Joining Sam and Josh will be young Calem Harper, who will train with the Barons and provide cover when Sam or Josh are unavailable. Calem iced for the Barons three times last season, coming in late in each game for a total of 21 minutes, the newcomer did all that was asked of him keeping a clean sheet in each game.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks for further player announcements, news of pre-season games and all your other Barons news
