Bruce, Knight and Papps return for 2014-15 !
Barnstorming forward and defensive bullworks back for another year.

Josh Bruce capped off a highly successful 2013-14 with the play-off winning penalty shot.

The Motor Nation Solihull Barons are delighted to welcome back three more stars of the double winining 2013-14 squad in the form of Josh Bruce, Phil Knight and Kieran Papps.

Josh Bruce joined the Barons at the start of last season having previously iced at Elite level for the Coventry Blaze and in the EPL for both Telford and Slough.

Playing on the first line's left wing Bruce made an immediate impact with the Barons and ended the season with 72 points including 32 goals. Perhaps surprisingly he also picked up 100 penalty minutes and will have to start the season with a three game suspension.

For many however the highlight of Bruce's season was coming back from a bad knock in the Laidler play-off semi-final to score the shoot-out winner in the final, to clinch the Barons double.

In Phil Knight and Kieran Papps the Barons have two rock solid defencemen. This role rarely grabs the headlines but was key in ensuring the Barons had the best defensive record in the league.

Phil Knight has been a Barons regular for the last decade or so, and plays a straightforward but intelligent defensive game, with the prime goal of keeping the Barons end clear.

Kieran Papps was a solid figure in the Barons defence of 13-14

For Papps 2013-14 was his fiirst season in a Barons shirt having spent most of his hockey career with the NL Coventry Blaze. Like Knight, Papps play involves strong and disciplined defensive play, keeping trouble from the Barons net without giving away penalties.

A welcome return for all three players as the Barons continue to bring back the core of last season's highly successful team.
